Brother Robert Thomas Reed was born in Cleveland Ohio on March 14, 1940 to Housten and Ealie Reed. He was raised in Liberty Hill Community in Cocke County Tennessee. He worked for Magnavox in Jefferson City for 19 years and retired from Sonoco Products after 30 years of service. He is a member and trustee of Dutch Bottom Baptist Church. He is married to Shelby Martin Reed and they have one son, two grandsons and eight great grandchildren.
Brother Reed was raised a Master Mason on May 29, 1982 at Newport Lodge No. 234 and served as Worshipful Master in 1998 and 2008. He has served as Cocke County Chairman for the Grand Lodge of Tennessee and served as Grand Lecturer for number of years. Brother Reed is a member of the York Rite Bodies in Morristown, Kerbela Shrine Temple and is Past President of the Cocke County Shrine Club. As a Shriner he was recognized for his dedication for driving children to the Shrine Hospitals.
Brother Reed received his Scottish Rite Degrees in the Fall Class of 1982. Since then he has served in many positions, in Knoxville Scottish Rite. He has been active in the Stage Crew and has worked in several degrees and is Past Degree Master of the Nineteenth Degree. Brother Reed is Past President of the Cocke County Scottish Rite Club, Past District Membership Chairman for the Scottish Rite, served as Wise Master of Knoxville Chapter of Rose Croix, served on the Executive Committee of Knoxville Scottish Rite for 10 years. Brother Reed also was appointed and served as General Secretary of the Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies. He now serves as Personal Representative of the S. G. I. G. in Tennessee and the Chairman of the Knoxville Scottish Rite Executive Committee. He was Invested Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 1989 and was coroneted Inspector General Honorary, Thirty Third Degree in 1997.
Brother Reed is also a member of the Order of Athelstan and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He and Mrs. Reed were members of the Newport Chapter No. 461 Order of the Eastern Star where he served as Worthy Patron and now he and Mrs. Reed both are members of Martha Dandridge No. 438 Order of the Eastern Star.
Brother Robert Thomas Reed was elected Junior Grand Warden for the Grand Lodge of Tennessee on March 24th 2016 and has advanced each year being elected Most Worshipful Grand Master on March 28th 2019.
